This page contains links to the match reports written by Colin Robinson. Unfortunately the Evening Press do not appear to be adding these reports to their web site as often as they have done in previous years. As a result I have also added reports of my own below. Obviously these reports concentrate on the matches I have been involved in. I rely heavily on word of mouth for the other match reports. As such I have added a new Submit Results page which allows you to send me the details of any match results and add any information that will be useful for me to write a match report - what's more you don't even need an email address to send me the details!

September 2005 Reports

September 14th 2005 - Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker Round-Up

Heworth A fell to a surprising 4-3 defeat against Heworth B in the opening game of the season. In a repeat of last season's opening result, Heworth B came from behind to beat the defending champions in the deciding frame. Brian Birch won the first frame against Brian Shipley, with Jason Milner levelleing the game in defeating Huw Faircliffe. Mick Frampton (22 break) then beat Rich Burdett before Neil Wood levelled the match once more, with victory over T.Tennyson. Steve Burdett put Heworth A 3-2 up when he beat Keith Watkinson with the aid of two breaks of 20, before Dave Birch ensured the game went to a decider when he beat Mal Dawson. Chris Thompson sealed the game for Heworth B, making a 20 break en-route to defeating Heworth A captain Clive Whyte.

However, Heworth B's victory was only enough to put them in fourth spot after the opening games with Acomb A, Bootham A and Fulford A each recording 5-2 wins over their B Team counterparts. Pete Lawson and Adrian Barraclough got Acomb A off to a great start with wins over Paul Waites and Ken Bowser respectively. Ian Gillies (who beat Barry Manson), Trevor Ventress (who beat Steve Rodgers) and Keith Myers completed the win for Acomb A, with replies from Jeff Kean (over Marcus O'Boyle) and John Ashwell (who defeated Gary Robinson).

Wins from debutant Glenn Mountain and stalwart Wayne Puleston (over Phil Cooke and Ray Thackray) put Fulford A 2-0 up in their clash with Fulford B. Jeff Brown comfortably added the third frame with victory over John Adcock, before Arthur Pegden beat Sam England in reply for Fulford B. Richard Stroughair secured victory for the A Team, making a 53 break at his first visit against B Team captain, Nigel Smith. Stroughair potted 5 blacks and 2 blues, before breaking down when missing an awkward black to corner whilst bridging over a red. Wayne Hartley made a fine 18 clearance to defeat George Toone and make the score 5-1, before Bob Smith took a consolation final frame against stand-in Alan Reed to make the final score 5-2.
