York Faber Shield Match Reports 2001~02

This page contains links to the match reports written by Colin Robinson. Unfortunately the Evening Press do not appear to be adding these reports to their web site as often as they have done in previous years. As a result I have also added reports of my own below. Obviously these reports concentrate on the matches I have been involved in. I rely heavily on word of mouth for the other match reports. As such I have added a new Submit Results page which allows you to send me the details of any match results and add any information that will be useful for me to write a match report - what's more you don't even need an email address to send me the details!

April 2002 Reports

End of Season Round-Up (by Colin Robinson)

HEWORTH `A' team achieved their sixth league and cup double in eight years when they beat Fulford `A' 4-0 in the York Conservative Clubs' Kutters and Shannons Team Snooker final at Acomb club. Heworth captain Clive Whyte beat Wayne Pulleston 67-13, Richie Burdett defeated Colin Neal 66-17, Jason Milner beat Richard Stroughair 69-29 and Steve Burdett came from 27-13 behind to beat Simon England 58-36. The presentations were made by competition sponsor Roy Walker, of Kutters and Shannons.

League champions Heworth `A' were presented with the Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League trophy by David Ragan of the sponsors, who also presented the Faber Shield billiards trophy to Acomb and the dedicated player award to Eric Darley, of Bootham. Bootham captain Ian Robinson received the John Smith's `B' Team Cup from Lee Walsh of John Smith's brewery.

Bernard Willey, president of Bootham club, presented the Willsden Steel Cup to joint players of the year Jason Milner and Clive Whyte, both of Heworth club. They each won 13 out of 14 games. Runner-up awards were presented to Richie Burdett (Heworth) and Ken Taylor (Bootham), who each won 11 games.
